Speaker Guidelines
All of our meetings are industry-oriented events with an emphasis on topics that are relevant to the energy industry, specifically the upstream, midstream and downstream segments of the energy industry. Our meetings and events are intended to foster interaction between all stakeholders, with the ultimate goal of improving our industry locally.
Our intent is to be neutral with regard to vendors, owner/operators, suppliers, and consultants. We want everyone to benefit and we encourage all to participate in our events as speakers, attendees, and sponsors.
How to Be a Speaker
- Use the volunteer form below to submit your information to our Program Committee.
- Please include a brief description of your topic, the speaker’s bio and your contact information.
- Be sure to identify when you’re interested in speaking. Note that some months already have a speaker and that we don’t meet in the months of June, July and August.
- We do not accept sales pitches or marketing presentations. Speakers are entitled to a single slide in their presentation that describes their business along with contact information.
- You will be contacted if you are being considered to speak.
- If you have questions not answered on this page, please email: admin@okcpipeliners.com.
Speaker Benefits
Our speakers are active stakeholders in some part of our industry. The biggest benefit in presenting at our events is to share experiences and network with your peers, and to interact with your colleagues from the upstream, midstream and downstream energy industry. Because of the high quality of our speakers, we promote our speakers and their backgrounds on our website and sometimes in press releases and newsletter.
Speaker Requirements
As a speaker we ask that you:
- Provide a professional quality presentation at least three business days before the event. The required formats are either PowerPoint or PDF.
- Stick to the time allocated for your presentation.
Guidelines
Times for presentations are 20-30 minutes followed by 5-10 minutes of Q&A.
If your presentation is supposed to be 20 minutes long, getting through 45 slides is almost impossible. Also remember that slides with lots of builds take more time than a slide with no builds. A good rule of thumb for most people is 1 slide for every 3 minutes of presentation. The best thing to do is time yourself in advance!
- Make sure your slides are readable. In general, nothing below 18pt type is going to be readable by anyone not in the first few rows. 24pt and up is usually safe.
- Remember, if they can’t read it from the back row, they’re not benefiting from expertise.
- If for some reason you need to cancel, please let us know ASAP, we likely will not have any backup speaker lined up the week before the meeting.
- All accepted presenters are based on the individual speaker, the relevance of the topic, and a speaking slot being available.
Some Great Advice for Speakers and Moderators
Below is an Harvard Business Review post that provides some of the best advice you can find anywhere on giving a great presentation. It is a must-read for anyone who cares about presentation and is strongly recommended for Pipeliners Club speakers. Even if you are already a speaking pro, this post is likely to give you at least one new idea. See:

Vendor Speakers
Although most of our speakers are businesses presenting case studies, analysts providing market insight, or experienced consultants providing “how to” guidance, we welcome speakers from the vendor community to contribute non-marketing presentations. Vendor speakers often have the most detailed knowledge about new technologies and use-cases and are valuable contributors.
Sponsors
Our sponsors are a critical part of our events and high-value interactive environments at our events would not be possible without them. We have multiple sponsorship opportunities with meeting sponsorships, networking hour sponsorships and table sponsorships all available.
